LinuxCon+CloudOpen of last week

FYI-

http://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/linuxcon-north-america/program/schedule or rather http://lccona14.sched.org

Many people post their documents online in Slideshare, for example the docker security one http://www.slideshare.net/jpetazzo/docker-linux-containers-lxc-and-security

The security summit http://kernsec.org/wiki/index.php/Linux_Security_Summit_2014 and kernel summit news http://lwn.net/SubscriberLink/608900/ac6899a9d4d7a23b/

Co-hosted events also include #MesosCon (from twitter), OpenDayLight (regarding SDN), UEFI http://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/linuxcon-north-america/extend-the-experience/co-located-events

Keynotes covered various topic, one is regarding MOOC. https://www.youtube.com/user/TheLinuxFoundation

I paid $300 for a full-access pass (50% off), and as a member of Chicago LUG there are free networking passes as well (no conference, only keynote, but also get to meet those people. Plus it is not so strict in checking badges). Got about 6~7 free T-shirts, many stickers of GitHub and Apache OpenStack. Sold some T-shirts and other merchandise for FSF.org. Saw Linus, Greg KH, Ted Ts’o, those are big names in Linux. Met some Fedora people I know long ago. I also talked to people from everywhere – many Chinese people, some from Huawei, some visitors from Taiwan. The music and food were nice. Great to know some people in Chicago LUG better!

The playground-like python tool is http://ipython.org/notebook.html I also find somehow it is similar to Org-mode, very interesting literate programming approach. I also listened to a session about software GPU. Any development related session is not as “hot” as cloud topics, LinuxCon is defined as business show this year.
